Imagine capturing the moments of everyday life with a touch of whimsy. Time for tea, a walk with the dog, a lazy afternoon among whimsical and color plants. Russian-born self-taught folk artist Liza came to the U.S. at the turn of the century with millions of other immigrants. She lived until the 1950s, having reached a level of accomplishment that eventually resulted in the acceptance of her work by then First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. The NY Times and NY Daily News captured the donation of her work, applauding her talent. Her love of art was later adopted by her children, one of whom was later considered among the country’s top collectors and dealers of African tribal art. Works available are on canvas and paper, and may be purchased through Westport River Gallery, One Riverside Avenue, Westport, Connecticut. For information call 203-226-6934.
